Film Festival 2

Poster of the original Django movie.

Ciao. Here is my second little film-festival. It's about Spaghetti Westerns. It's a huge genre that started in the early 60's and going on for more than two decades. It probably had some roots in the 50's with the Zorro and the Zapata characters. With the links and some deep googling you can get a masters-degree in Spaghetti Westerns.

Here I focus on Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained. The relaese was postponed for the Newport "incident". That was a respectful gesture. I'm not going into that, simply because I have no words for this tragedy. In January the movie will be in the cinema's. The press already had a preview and the reviews are good.

The Django character (Franco Nero) was basically created, produced and directed by Sergio Corbucci in 1966.

Clint Eastwood, Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone are probably the best known names for their Dollar Trilogy.

"I think [the Leone films] changed the style, the approach to Westerns [in Hollywood]. They made the violence and the shooting aspect a little more larger than life, and they had great music and new types of scores. They were stories that hadn't been used in other Westerns. They just had a look and a style that was a little different at the time: I don't think any of them was a classic story, like [John Wayne's 1956] The Searchers or something like that. (Clint Eastwood, reflecting on the impact of the Dollar Trilogy).

- Eli Wallach was the Good
- Clint Eastwood was the Bad
- Lee Van Cleef was the Ugly
Oh man, how I love Lee Van Cleef.

But there is more. Much more. There were more than 500 spaghetti westerns made. In this little film-festival we want to show you some roots and backgrounds of Spaghetti Westerns. Without further ado, here are some moving pictures;

  • The Spaghetti West is a docu about the genre.
  • Here is a long interview with Clint Eastwood.
  • Here is the original 1966 Django movie.
There are some prequels and sequels. Quality is mixed. But in a film festival you can expect several movies;

Enjoy.

Poems

Actually, these are German WW-II soldiers, trying to cross a Dutch River.

Intro

Eecept for this silly Percy Shelly stuff, here are some Dutch poems.

Cees

The 'Blauw-Bil-Gorgel' still is a famous poem in Dutch literature. If I had to translate that, it would be 'Blue-Butt-Gorgeous'. It's an experimental format from Cees Buddingh. He was once declared as the most boring Dutch poet by our 'elite' witers. Especially by hot-tempered Willem Frederik Hermans. Cees is super-cool. He's a favorite of mine. Just like Simon Carmiggelt and Godfried Bomans. Cees was from the city of Dordrecht. The last place where you want to live in the Netherlands.

There is a Goeman-Borgesius-Plantsoen in Dordrecht. How do I know that. Because I had a friend on my primary school. I forgot his name. We were both bullied. We had a connection. He relocated to Dordrecht. I got his adress. I never saw him again.

Johnny

Johnny van Doorn (aka Johnny the Selfkicker) was a poet-performer in the late 1960's. His 'Sun' poem is still underestimated.

Marsman

Thinking of Holland. Wonderful poem. Put on music by this undergraduate.

Strad

In this blog, a Strad is as much a legend as a Fender Stratocaster. You can search my blog for 'Fender' or 'Zappa' to read the Jimi Hendrix stratocaster story.

Girls, girls, gils. Musical girls. No Rihanna, Madonna, Gaga or Beyoncé. My girls are of the classical type. No misunderstanding; every poppy girl went through thousands of hours of practice ands devotion. Respect for every body.

Why does a Stradimarius or a Giardini violin sound so great? They tried to replicate it many times. Nobody ever succeeded. It was not the lacker. The story goes, that around the 1700's there was a mini ice-age. Trees grew slower then. Especially on the north side of the Italian Alps. That's where the wood came from. I like this lovely 'broodje aap' story.

I'm not sure if it was French philosopher Pierre Bourdieu who stated that reality is all imagination and imagination is all reality. A deep thought, but not very practical.

How do you get this bunch of sexy women into one blog? Well, years and years of practicing. I blogged them all before. Enjoy these lucious lady's.

You must have noticed by now my classic kink. Here's a Beethoven clip from Valentina Lisitsa Beethovens's Moonlight Serenade.

Beethoven

Pink girl on a black piano.

So beautiful. The triple concert from Ludwig van Beethoven. Not played anymore nowadays, because of the awkward casting. I have a vinyl version somewhere. How do you get three world-toppers together. This is a pretty unique full concert movie
- Yo Yo Ma (cello)
- Itzhak Perlman (violin)
- Daniel Barenboim (piano, director)

He is my role model. I'm a fan of Ludwig van Beethoven. He was German. Same age as Georg Wilhelm Friedriech Hegel. Also a semi-genius. A super-great German philosopher, but completely incomprehensible. Hegel gave me a good gut-feeling for the rest of my life. Deep thoughts and great overview. I even suspect Beethoven's 9th symphony was an ode to Hegel's 'Phänomenologie des Geistes'. Nonsence, it was the German Zeitgeist.

I'ts a real difference between van Beethoven and von Beethoven. The "von" depicts (in German) that he was from noble descent. He was definitely not. Young Beethoven was a fan of Napoleon. His 'Eroica' was dedicated to him. Later on he became disappointed with in Napoleon.

There's a movie around in the cloud ('Copying Beethoven') about a young girl that's copying his scribbles for a decent publication. Grumpy, lively, deaf, old man. That's the way I want to see Ludwig (I'm terminal romantic). In this scene she is conducting the conductor on his first performance of his last symphony. Mind you, he was stone-deaf at that time. So lovely.

Totally flabbergasted when I first heard this music. Not sure how it became The European Anthem.

Yue must be aware of my Beethoven kink by now. Here is a clip from Valentina Lisitsa Beethovens's Moonlight Serenade.

Julia

Julia Fischer.

No, this is no accident, all pictures are black-and-white in tone. That's the hallmark of this blog.

As a contrast with my previous blog, I want to introduce Julia Fisher. She is a great looking super-multi-talented woman, who plays the piano and the violin as wel with big orchestras. Here she's playing a piano-concerto of Grieg.

She also can pretty good play the violin. Multi-talented woman. Click here to see her play the Mendelssohn violin concerto.

I stated before on this blog, that classical music can be very sexy. I even suspect agents and producers to promote sexy women like Janine Jansen. She is a Dutch fiddler with raving critics, especially in the UK.

Now, that was typical Dutch. To downplay our greatest assets. The RCO (Royal Concertbuilding Orchestra) was once pronounced as The Best Orchestra In The Whole Wide World, even before the Wiener and Berliner crews. That's something to be proud of. But it got little attention here in the Netherlands. They have a long Mahler tradition with directors like van Beinum, Bernard Haitink, Ricardo Chally, and now Mariss Jansons.

Mariss can even make the Wiener sound great. He is a modest genius. That's what we like here in the Netherlands. No pompous Karajans or Haitink ego's. Brilliant Italian Ricardo Chailly did some great work with the RCO but he was definitely a cultural mismatch. I think Leonard Bernstein (RIP) would be a great director for the RCO. He also was a composer (West Side Story). As a director he was more pronounced than Mariss. I was just blown right out of my pants, when I saw Leonard Bernstein explaining Gustav Mahler to an audience of 12 yo kids.

I just got my ticket for the Concertgebouw. December 19th. Balcony, best seat, 125,= Euro. Concert of the RCO with Mariss Jansons. Third symphony of Mendelssohn. Best combination in the whole wide world.
"Remember, to shave your armpits and dress classy for this event, and don't forget some clean underwear".

The last time I visited the Concert Building was with my highschool class. About 40 years ago. They played an Opera from Mozart. I couldn't understand a word of it, but it was very impressive. Some daring highschool teachers still have a warm place in my hart.

Drifting away agian. Back to Julia. In these clips she plays the piano with The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, (Young German Philharmonic), conductor is Matthias Pintscher. Enjoy.

Graf

Best Niet Normaaal

John F. Kennedy in memoriam.

Hoi Ma. Ja of nee of misschien.

Iets in steen laten bijtelen kost me wel weer vijf ruggen.

Verwacht niet te veel, het is allemaal flink soft en recht-toe recht-aan. Maar er zijn een paar opmerkelijke kanten aan deze zaak;

Tijden verkeren.

Tips & Tricks

Almost a thousand entries on this blog – and then maybe I stop. An iPal asked be some help to start his own blog. This looks like a good moment to pass some knowledge that I collected the past few years. To spice-up your blog, you need some basic html-coding skills. Actually, some are not that basic. I wish here to thank my Nephew for all the evenings and nights that he showed me hands-on the html basics. I learned about 20+ tips and tricks. They can be found in the .txt file of this blog-entry (bottom). Here I will only show you a few that I used many times on this blog.

- First, this is a simple hotlink to a famous music forum.
This is a simple hotlink to Wikipedia, one of my favorite sites.
The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is great for movie-lovers.

Here is an example of a 400 pix wide picture and a picture caption in a smaller font.

Birdman of Alcatraz (1962)

I get my pictures usually from a Google-search; but they must be persistent and free accessible. You can upload your own picture to Picasa.com (also from Google). You can scale pictures up and down with the "width" attribute. Scaling-up will give you some quality loss as is shown in this example; the original was about 350 pix wide and it was scaled-up to 400 pix.

When you scale-down a picture to fit your blog, you can add a "click here to enlarge" message, when the mouse hovers over the picture. Both URL's are typically the same.

Here is an example of what you can do with formatting tags in html. I use them very seldom because the text can look pretty shitty cluttered. I use the © Copyright tag with pictures when it is known. I think this is standard etiquette. The Trademark™ tag is rarely used on non-commercial websites.

You can control text with the font statement. This example uses size="3" face="verdana" color="yellow".

Here is a simple example of an (unordered) list. I don't like the big spacing;

  • Red

  • White

  • Blue

Another example with the font tag used;

  • Red

  • White

  • Blue

You can make more advanced lists (and tables) by replacing the Red/White/Blue text with hotlinks to sites.

Here is a last example of a smaller picture (half the blog size) with text wrapped around it. The picture is of William of Orange and the text is the text of the Dutch hymn. In this example you don't use a break between the picture and the text.

1. Wilhelmus van Nassouwe
ben ik, van Duitsen bloed,
den Vaderland getrouwe
blijf ik tot in den dood.
Een prinse van Oranje
ben ik, vrij onverveerd,
den Koning van Hispanje
heb ik altijd geëerd.

A nice element on your blog is a preview and a link to a YouTube clip. You can copy-paste the object embed code from YouTube. It's easy when you keep the aspect ratio right; about 400x320 pix for my blog. Here are the Dutch Women Volleyball team singing our National Hymn.

I skip the table.html for now; it's too complicated to explain; maybe later. You can do very well without it. I uploaded the html 8kb .txt coding file for this blog to several sites file. The file is called TTUN.txt (Tips and Tricks from Uncle and Nephew). Take your pick;
- From RapidShare
- From MegaUpload
- From HotFile
- From SendSpace
- From FilesMail
- From YourFileHost

Good luck, Harry

Russ

Ultra Vixens [1979] Movie Poster

I've not been very active lately on my blog. Sometime it looks like I'm just pumping movie-bytes all around the interweb. Probably I have some better things to do. So here is a better idea for all of us.

[1] Take a look at the movie-poster.
This is a 90 MB. file from RS with 100 X-rated movie posters. Mostly soft, some special or super.
Here is the same 100 poster file from HotFile.
Here is the same 100 poster file from MegaUpload .

[2] Look for the movie trailer.
Utube doesn't allow for X- or R-rated clips. They have some boob-monitor in place. But this trailer still looks alive.

This 12 MB. intro trailer says it all about Russ Meyer movies boobs, boobs, cars, boobs, boobs.

[3] Then decide to download the whole movie.
You (very often) can find the full movie in .rar format on RS or MU with this great search engine. You must visit the originating site to check if a password is required.

That's how I found this great Russ Meyer cult classic. The movie is ~90+ min. in about 10 x 120 MB. parts. PSW = None.

=== [I Almost Forgot]===

Pussycat is another great [1965] culty from Russ Meyer. All movie links are still hot. There were some rumors around that Quentin Tarantino wants to do a remake with Britney Spears (she declined). Now that Pablo Rodriguez got Jessica Alba out of her clothes (Machete 2010), I am not surprised by anything anymore. I'm sure you can find the cam's on the interweb when the time is there (yawn).

Cigarettes

Scene from Seville (Spain)

Another [1984] movie. It's situated around the cigarette factory in Seville (Spain) in the 19th century. It's all about love, passion, jealousy, bull-fights, a frivolous gypsy girl (Carmen), a handsome corporal (Don Jose) and a not so happy ending.

My father introduced me to this Carmen opera (thanks Pa) and it made a firm impression on me since - for its story, its catchy songs and its sexy undertones.

Georges Bizet was a French music composer from Paris in the Romatic style. So, here is his best story and greatest (last) opera. Not sure if he was ever into Andalusian territory, but he did his research; I've been in Seville and saw the factory with my own eyes. It's a great building and its still there, but it has other usages today. The opera is so great.

Just to warm you up, try some clips from the Tube;
- Carmen overture with some Chilean 'balls'
- Sexy 'Habanera' song with English subtitles
- 'Toreador' from Dmitri & choir is impressive

'La Plaza de Toros de Ronda' (~100 miles SE of Seville) is THE bull-fight-temple in southern Spain. The BF scenes in this movie are from there and they are awesome. I've never seen any 'arty' bull-fight scenes in any movie; here is your chance.

Not for the faint-of-heart. When the toreador conquered the bull, he cut of his balls as a trophy. Ernest Hemingway was a bull-fight-fan. He is one of my heroes, maybe a substitute father (sorry Pa). Spinning around again. I did a holiday tour in southern Spain and I kinda fell in love with this region.

Take a look at this Ronda bull-fight movie . There are A- and B- category Toreadors; same as in Football / Soccer. This B-clip is very instructive for beginners. The Toreador is the star of the show. Some Picadors pinch the bull with some nasty spears to make him jumpy (always a HIM). The final scene is, that the Toreador will stab the bull with his sable between the shoulder-blades down through his heart. The bull then goes down, and he can take his balls. Finally the bull-corpse is dragged away by two horses.

George Bizet(1838–1875)did his Carmen opera a year before he died. Bizet now lies on the celeb-only cemetery Père Lachaise in Paris. I've been there too and it was an existentialist experience.

Bizet, Carmen, 1984, Spanish and English subtitles. Director: Francesco Rosi. Cast: Julia Migenes (Carmen), Placido Domingo (Don Jose).

Land

Photo (c) Ansel Adams

The 'Gulf-stream Waters' made me post this one. Because it is such a mess over there, even I (Urp) am worried. Besides that (as a runner-up for the 4th of July) this is the best ever PR song for the USA. American children should sing this song every morning in primary schools. I even don't mind if this will become the USA National Hymn (oh, what silly thoughts again);

- The original is from Woody Guthrie.
- This is a Los Lobos version.
- Pete Seeger and Bruce Springsteen.

Honda

Japanese director Ishiro Honda is The Godfather of many Godzilla movies. The series started in 1954 and is still running. There was a 50th anniversary movie in 2004. You can find some Godzilla entries on my blog. Instead of posting another episode, I will post some (re/search) links for you that are interested.

The legend originates from the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This triggered a gene-mutant-monster called Godzilla
and some more of his angry friends.

This is a nice-to-know background story to appreciate these flicks. It's probably a kind of way for Japan to cope with these defining national events (...).

Production quality from the Tokyo Toho studios is comparable with Hollywood; high. And the movies are always very entertaining.

The Godzilla movies are under-estimated and kind of hidden-cult in the west and that is a shame. They are on the same level as (say) the Hollywood 'Batman' or 'Spiderman' series; though most of these Godzilla movies were from the 1950's and 1960's.

I am a fan of Honda's Godzilla.

Parker

Bob Hoskins

The Butler-Driver-Gardener gets emotionally involved with Her Ladyship; a well known romantic theme since "Lady Chatterley's Lover". I always suspected a behind-the-scenes relation between Parker and Penelope .

Bob Hoskins (George) gets involved with his Black Ladyship in this 1986 'Mona Lisa' movie. George is out of prison and agrees to chauffeur hi-class call-girl Simone (Cathy Tyson). At first they hate each other, but things can change for the better or for the worse. When Simone asks George to find a friend of hers that she lost contact with, he dives into the sordid underbelly of the UK sexprotution world.

This film hit me right between the eyes when I saw it the first time. It still is impressive. Bob Hopkins and Michael Caine are among my favorite UK actors.

'Do you have a big white rabbit with long floppy ears?' (05:50 minutes). That quote must be inspired by the Monty Python heritage. But for the remaining part this is a great movie.

Some fan wrote;
This was an unexpected treat, knowing next to nothing about it, save for the fact that I admire Bob Hoskins, Michael Caine, and Robbie Coltrane all. Cathy Tyson was merely ok in the film & sadly Coltrane is pretty much wasted as Thomas. But both Hoskins and Caine are superb. Sadly, in America at least, Bob Hoskins is known to the non-cinema masses as merely Eddie from "What ever happened to Roger Rabbit?" & "That guy from Hook". This is a shame, as he's an amazing actor.

Three

'Tokyo Shock' is the word. This site has it all.

This is all reposting and wrapping up some favorite movie themes. An Easter weekend can give you some silly thoughts. Just follow the links and pick what you like.

Three on a row and you're in. I called it New Japanese Gore (NJG) in one of my previous blogs because these movies definitely have some similarities. The hallmark is over-the-top violence, extremely graphic, chain-saws, samurai-swords and other sharp utensils, fountains-of-blood, chopped faces and limbs, split-skulls, brains and intestines coming out, penises cut off and some more exhilarating candies.

It's also 'new' because of the Woman-Anti-Hero. You rarely find this theme in mainstream movies. The main woman character starts in an underdog position and then comes back in a terrible way. The theme is not new. 'Not a Nice Picture' was an inspiration for 'Kill Bill'. But our Japanese friends gave it an extra push with these movies.

'The Audition' (1999) from Takashi Miike was the first movie I would consider an NJG. Eihi Shiina (as Asami Yamazaki) amputated this guy's foot with a piano-string. Takashi Miike and Quentin Tarantino are friends. The opening scenes of their Sukiyaki Western Django from 2007 says it all.

The Audition Trailer is a Little Piece of Art on its own when you remember that this is a sadist-psycho-horror movie witch some heavy thanks to Alfred Hitchcock.

Same Eihi Shiina is Ruka as a Tokyo police officer with a self mutilation syndrome in the 2008 innovative SF movie 'Tokyo Gore Police'. Sorry, I here mixed up with Maiko Asano with Eihi Shiina.

Ruka challenges a chain-saw-creep with her Samurai Sword in the first scenes. A Japanese Samurai Sword is a Semi-Holy-Object and only allowed for male nobleman. With these movies (and also in Kill-Bill) women are using this weapon. This must be a shocker for Japanese traditionalists. I give this movie a Cult-A-Status because there is already a-movie-about-this-movie.

Some Gore Trailer from the Tube = Here.

Then I came across 'The Machine Girl'. A young girl (Minase Yashiro) got her left hand chopped off by a Yakuza (Mob) gang (oh, these sharp Japanese utensils are so awful) while they were joyfully butchering her family. Her prosthesis is a multi-barrel machine-gun that comes in handy in her tour-of-revenge.
The first five minutes of the movie is also the trailer.

My latest find is Miki Mizuno as the avenger in 'Hard Revenge, Milly'. Same theme same gore. A girl goes on a killing spree after they murdered her family. Visually attractive, lots of action, no subtleties, a straight slasher, English subtitles. With many thanks to Dharmox for the upload efforts;

Easter

This looks like a movie-only blog (and probably it is) and I'm not going to correct it. Like some other guys around I'm just following my hormones (i.e. moods and tastes).

For Easter though, there is here now some great classical music for Easter. I just found this exceptional music in a top quality format.

New

New Japanese Gore (NJG). The chainsaws only stop when they are cluttered with too many guts. I posted some of this stuff before just for the hilarious fun. When you are into New Japanese Gore this is a special movie for you.

I just found this strange and arty 45 min. movie that looks like nothing else done before. It is a sort of TMO (the-making-of). It is also a kind of documentary. It has scenes from the movie, it has original scenes, it is visually attractive, language and subtitles are virtually absent, special effects are nice, a piece of art on its own.
And it is all about the 2008 movie 'Tokyo Gore Police' (TGP).

This art house type of docu gives you some deeper insight (by means of art) in the visual grammar of New Japanese Gore. The Slasher genre is lifted to a higher level. And (cinematographically speaking) it is all 'tastefully' done with high production standards.

Correction: The only 'deeper insight' is that these people are fully devoted into making great gory movies and having a lot of fun in the process.

The special effects look quite simple but effective and innovative (and are really over the top); fountains of blood, so you need an umbrella (literally), heads, faces and limbs are cut off (vertically and horizontally) with chainsaws and nasty sharp Japanese swords. The blood-splattering on the camera-lens was new to me.

Another feature of these movies is the tormented-woman-avenger. Women are still the victims (in the beginning) but then take their revenge in an overwhelming way.

I posted The (2008) Machine Girl before;
- Here are the first 5 minutes of the movie (with English subs).
- There seems to be a Part-II that I will hunt later.

The title of this (45 min. 740 MB.) .avi refers to the 63-rd minute of the 'Tokyo Gore Police' movie;
- 63 Minutes Later - part1.rar
- 63 Minutes Later - part2.rar

I posted Tokyo Gore Police (2008) before. It is near-cult and probably the defining movie for many more to come from Tokyo Shock;
- Just a great TGP trailer.
- The auto-mutilation ad is crazy sarcastic.

Sandra

It's such a lovely tradition, the night before the Oscars. Sandra Bullock came in her own person to pick up her Razzie (Golden Raspberry, worst movie awards 2010).

Paul 'Robocop' Verhoeven was the first one to show up in his person for his 1995 Showgirls movie. It should be a Shame-On-You but it is of such greatness that these people show up in person and even make a witty speech.

I always was looking for a good reason to blog SB. She is so great a personality but also in so many mediocre movies. Her humorous acceptance speech is here.

Oh, btw, the movie was named All about Steve;
All About Steve part1.rar
All About Steve part2.rar
All About Steve part3.rar
All About Steve part4.rar
All About Steve part5.rar
All About Steve part6.rar
All About Steve part7.rar

All credits go to the original poster, no password.

And then (miracle of all miracles) the next day Sandra got an Oscar for Best Actress in the movie The Blind Side.

It was a Ladies Night in many respects – Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker, Mo'Nique in Precious.

Ellen

Ellen is actually a performster, not a singster

Ellen ten Damme is a Dutch multi-talented actress, singer & performer. She is near-celeb because she is a hard-to-corner and serious professional with few connections to the paparazzi (the hallmark of all Dutch near-celebs).

She can be very raunchy but she is always very classy. Ellen is straight, honest, confused, sexy, humorous and hot in these tubes. Look further for more Ellen-Fun.

She is doing her thing now for some years and still is grossly underestimated here in the Netherlands. I made some pre-boom predictions on this blog (of which 30% came thru) hyping some kids before they were well-known. I wish I could do that for Ellen, but I'm afraid she is too professional to be hyped.

Yes, you can compare Ellen with Lady Gaga. The major difference is that Ellen is much more direct and explicit in her songs & texts. The German title of the second tube ("Plattgefickt") translates somewhere into "Fucked Silly" or "Plat Geneukt" in Dutch.

- Ellen talks about Pippi Langstrumpf (my Heroin) and the Daily Lama (Dutch).
- Ellen in her "Fucked Silly" performance (German)

I'm sure you can Wiki, Google and Tube a lot more from Ellen.

Euro

Brigitte Lahaie is a French Euro Trash icon

Super sleazy and sexy footage from the 1960's to 1980's. This 12 part history documentary series is called Eurotica. It should be archived under Euro Trash (ET).

The series shows many clips of all of the in/famous ET movies and also has many background interviews (about 30 years later) with all of the famous ET directors and actresses.

In 1974, French pron laws were abolished and then the show was on.
A lovely must-have series for all ET & Kink lovers.
You better DL one part at the time and then view the next one.
All credits go to the original uploader.
Each episode is about 380MB. and 25:00 minutes.
