Sandy

It seems that you have to die young to get some cult-status (Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin). The same goes for Sandy Denny [1947-1978]. A romantic contrast to all those old guys still touring around [Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin].
These are from Sandy's last concert [Gold Dust, at The Royalty] before her untimely death in 1978.
- the first song

Milk

Alex in A Clockwork Orange

Moloko (Russian for Milk) were an electronic/pop duo consisting of Róisín Murphy from Wicklow, Ireland and Mark Brydon, from Sunderland, England. They performed from 1995 till 2003.
The band's name originates from the Clockwork Orange slang, in which it means "milk" in Russian. Actually it is the name of a milk drink mixed with narcotics that Alex and his "droogs" consume.
Maloko plays an upbeat, catchy and danceable type op electropop;
- their website is still active

Sudan

the Deserts of Sudan

I got some replies and e-mails about dead RS links. And I am NOT going to re-up them. The reasons for that are twofold;
[1] The first reason is, that RS is removing files when they get "complaints" about [copyright infringements]. In that case, I probably used file-links from someone else [all credits to the original poster]. I cannot re-post these files, untraceable for me, even if I would like to.
[2] Starting December-2007, RS is deleting old files from XXL accounts [which I am]. RS looks pretty popular and they probably get crazy from managing all these tera-bytes; "Your account stores more than 20 GB of files and is a 'Storage XXL' account. Files not being downloaded for more than 90 days will automatically be deleted"
My 90 GB will be eventually be reduced to 20 GB when you friends out there are not downloading my stuff - too bad for both of us; I can/will NOT re-up 60+ MB. from the past 5 years. So here are some solutions ... ;)
- You can surf my blogs from the earliest days upward; when you DL some, the links/files are kept active for a few months for other friends.
- Try my "all-post" file, from a few months ago; it has a lot of links to my earlier posts. Many of them were posted on this blog. I called my file "Growing Tulips in the Deserts of Sudan" because an earlier version with a more obvious filename was deleted from RS [I wonder why].
- You can distribute these links among more friendly people; friends of my friends are my friends ... ;)
- On the righthand side of my blog you can find some of my favorites. You can surf and DL a lot of full movies from there too.

Good luck, thank you all, a happy new year and enjoy

Buddy

painting by Thomas Baier

Buddy Rich [1917-1987] was a famous jazz drummer. He seemed to be a pretty big asshole is his private life, but he could make some great sounds. A very nice guy [or woman] got me this amazing clip.

- the same clip on the tube is here
- official website is here
- Ed Shaughnessy vs. Buddy Rich Drum Battle from the tube
- Buddy Rich vs. Animal from the Muppet Show = great
- what about Gene Krupa in his Jungle Madness

Sophie

Sophie Zelmani [1972] is a Swedish singer-songwriter who debuted with the single "Always You". She sounds like a pretty softish, über-romantic sighing girl ... I was tipped by my little nephew ;)
