Tielman

The Atomium in Brussels

I'm not sure where to locate the start of Dutch pop music. But there is this great story about the Tielman Brothers who were invited to play at the Dutch pavilion on the World Exhibition in Brussels in 1958. Everybody was expecting the Aloha Hawaian sounds from our Indonesian friends. So the shock was complete when they played some Elvis Presley type of rock. The Dutch government even made their official excuses.

I was triggered by this top quality 5xCD set of Dutch pop history [1963-1969]; the Bluf Beat and Branie box. Probably not for everybody around the world but a definite must-have for lovers of Dutch nostalgia.

All credits go to the original poster.
The files are about 90-120MB. each.
