Op Marsch door Amsterdam - Cover

(Sorry Dutch again). In the sixties all kind of strange things were going on in Amsterdam. I could make another 12-16 blogs about that. The Provo movement was most remarkable. The word is derived from 'provocation'. I was too young to join them then (shit).

Young people got arrested for handing out raisins to the public. You could make officer Grumpky really jumpy with just a little effort. Those were the days my friend.

Ex-Anti-Smoke-Magician Robert Jasper Grootveld was a big hit in those days. His performances at Het Lieverdje on The Spui square are still legendary among the old and elderly here in Holland.

And then ... I found this album with marches from the Amsterdam Police Band, also from the 1960's. I'm sure you recognize the differences in culture. With their 'Alte Kameraden' they were almost proto-fascist in tone. No wonder young people got upset by the authorities.

The full album is about 120MB. and has 12 tracks.

Enjoy
