Joyce

Joyce Hatto in 1970

On September 17, 2007 there was an amazing 12 page story in The New Yorker about "Goddess" pianist Joyce Hatto [1928-2006]. She started playing the piano at age 5, she did many concerts, but didn't published any recordings. Around 2002 her husband/producer posted some of her music in internet-groups. The music was much praised and hyped by many famous critics. Then she started to publish up to 120 CDs, all were produced by her husband's company.
Then some people started wondering. It turned out that many (maybe all) recordings were from other famous pianists. This great hoax made a fool of many so-called music critics. A wonderful story, but "her" music nonetheless sounds great ... he-he-he.
- some great sounding Chopin Walzes here, here and here
- a 98MB. file with 20 of "her" Chopin Waltzes was provided by Alan Cooper
