Mahler

Some special classic music, but I'm not sure what this blog is about. After a lot of years of conducting the Koninklijk Concertgebouw Orkest (KCO, Amsterdam) Bernard Haitink left the KCO in 1988 with a row, but they made up again in 1999 - born Amsterdam, always Amsterdam.

Bernard will do some special concerts with the KCO in the very near future to celebrate his 80th. birthday. Just an educated guess - they will do some Mahler stuff. More news is expected in the next few days or weeks, so stay tuned.

BTW, the KCO was recently voted as "The Best Orchestra in the World" with Mariss Jansons (since 2004) as part-time conductor (I blogged them before). The KCO got more and better hailings from critics with Mariss as conductor; the chemistry with the KCO seems pretty OK. Too bad he gets a heart attack every 3 concerts.

No fresh Haitink stuff yet, so you must do for now with these oldish super tubes;
- KCO & Berarnd Haitink - Mahler Symphony No.4
- KCO & Mariss Jansons - Mahler Symphony No.1

Enjoy the music clips
